Music Log - 033 | Songs from A Day To Remember and In Stereo 🎵

<![CDATA[First song for today is "I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?" Yes the title is a handful. It is based off a line from the movie Night At The Museum -- and that just made me miss Robin Williams. Anyway, this song was my intro to the band A Day To Remember. I first heard it on Pandora and really liked it. Soon enough I had bought their album off iTunes. This is a great rock song from start to finish. Easily my favorite of all ADTR tracks. The bonus here is that their music video is funny too.

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/xaKdRwCveEc" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

!--more--
hr class="sb"/

Second song for today is "Waking Up" by the band In Stereo. Really good punk-rock, pop-punk track. It's surprising that it doesn't seem to be as popular as I think it should be. Couldn't find any official music video on Youtube for this one. The video on this post comes from a fan who uploaded a copy of the song, because they couldn't find an official one either. Anyway, like I said, a really good track worth listening to.

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/MJDaJMYzi3c" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

Happy Friday and I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Tags: #MusicLog #ADayToRemember #InStereo #PostHardcore #PopPunk #PunkRock

!--emailsub--

div id="post-signature"
div class="alert-info"
ba href="https://remark.as/p/journal.dinobansigan.com/music-log-033"Discuss.../a/b or leave me a comment below.
/div
/div]]>

Music Log - 024 | Songs from As It Is and FM Static

<![CDATA[It's not Friday, but I have been struggling through work, trying to come up with a solution that fits the requirements listed in the user story. I'm struggling because I cannot come up with a solution that doesn't involve blowing up other parts of the code. Obviously that's not good, but I'm also running out of options. Anyway, I want to clear my mind. So let's listen to some music shall we?

If you think emo music is dead, well think again. First up is the song "The Fire, The Dark" by the rock band As It Is. It is a pretty good track that sounds like it very much fits into the emo pop category.

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/X4yLctPRiXU" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

!--more--
hr /
Second song for today is "Definitely Maybe" by the rock band FM Static. This song takes me back to my college days. I remember me and a very good friend of mine rocking out to songs from FM Static. Those were good times. This song in particular, is just plain good old pop rock/punk rock music.

Sidenote: I never knew until today, that the band FM Static is just a side project from the members of the Christian Rock band Thousand Foot Krutch.

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/kdfOT9m-n6U" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

Tags: #MusicLog #AsItIs #FMStatic #EmoPop #PopRock #PunkRock

!--emailsub--

div id="post-signature"
div class="alert-info"
ba href="https://remark.as/p/journal.dinobansigan.com/music-log-024"Discuss.../a/b or leave me a comment below.
/div
/div]]>

Music Log – 028 | Falling in Reverse Part 2

<![CDATA[Update 06/05/2020 -- Redid this music log with YouTube videos and an updated post slug. This used to be Music Log – 014 | Falling in Reverse Part 2. With the updated post slug, you should be able to use the footer links to navigate from this entry, all the way down to the first one (Music Log - 001), and vice versa. Note that the footer links will only show up if you have Javascript enabled.

This is part 2 of the Falling In Reverse music log edition. Let's start off with the song "Fuck You and All Your Friends". Don't let the title of the song stop you from trying to listen to it. It is a really great track with an awesome build up to the chorus. The reason the title is so negative, is because if I'm not mistaken, the song is based off the fractured relationship between the band's vocalist and his friends from his previous band (before he formed Falling In Reverse).

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/vbC9orqPCtc" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

!--more--
hr class="sb"/
Next song is "Loser", which is an awesome track with some really good lyrics. This is one of the tracks where I felt like Falling In Reverse has now started to mature in their song writing. And I don't know why, but I just connect with this song. I love it!

You're always getting me high, then you're pulling me low.
Then you beg me to stay, but you want me to go.
You're always telling me "yes", but your answer is "no".
If you want me to guess, I'm just a stranger you know.
If you call this winning why do I feel like a loser?

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/A2vHIpxsfEM" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

hr class="sb"/
Last song for today is "Keep Holding On". As you can read from the title, this song has a beautiful message about holding on. In fact the singer directly addresses the kids listening to this song and tells them to keep holding on. I love that.

Also, this song is pretty much the singer's life story summarized into one awesome track. Usually musicians who create really beautiful, meaningful music, are those who went through so much in their lives. This is showcased in this song. I mean just look at the lyrics below, especially the part where he says "They sing my songs and feel my pain, cause pain is what creates my fame." That's some deep shit right there. This is one of their best songs in my opinion.

I thought I had myself all figured out
But I've spent my whole life holding myself down
And it seems to be that sort of thing I keep doing constantly
Addicted to the pain I cause myself

My head is floating somewhere in the clouds
While I'm paid to entertain a lively crowd
They sing my songs and feel my pain cause pain is what creates my fame
A vicious cycle someday I'll get out

I can't believe I'm standing here at all, I can't believe I made it this far
On my way with a smile on my face to the top and I'm not falling off
And all I need is a microphone, I'll sing about the things that have been hurting me
It's safe to say all the kids I relate to their lives so just keep holding on

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/ddEvHjcan1o" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

Tags: #MusicLog #Music #FallingInReverse #RockMusic #PunkRock

!--emailsub--

div id="post-signature"
div class="alert-info"
ba href="https://remark.as/p/journal.dinobansigan.com/music-log-028"Discuss.../a/b or leave me a comment below.
/div
/div]]>

You're always getting me high, then you're pulling me low.
Then you beg me to stay, but you want me to go.
You're always telling me “yes”, but your answer is “no”.

If you call this winning why do I feel like a loser?

Music Log - 014 | Falling in Reverse Part 1

<![CDATA[It's a beautiful Friday in North Texas. It is sunny outside but the temp is 48F right now. Felt good when I went out for a drive on my lunch break. Anyway since it is Friday, time for another music log.

This will be Part 1 of the Falling In Reverse music log edition. Wow Falling in Reverse. I don't even know how to describe their music, other than that it might be the best combination of metal, emo, punk, rock, electronica and rap that I've heard so far. Their lead singer Ronnie Radke has had a rough life having been involved with drugs and going to prison. However he uses his personal experiences and uses it as fuel to write some really, really good emotionally charged tracks.

Note: Most of their songs have explicit lyrics. You have been warned.

Let's start with one of their more recent songs, "Losing My Life." One of the best combination of rap and rock that I've ever heard in a song. I love how it transitions from rap to rock just before the chorus. It also has this sci-fi movie vibe to it.

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/6SeFPYWv9lIlSWanyEDYf5" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

!--more--
Next up is the song "It's Over When It's Over." This is probably my favorite Falling In Reverse song. So much good lyrics in this one track. The song covers a bunch of different experiences that the singer went through: his time in prison, his desperate call to God and his friends/peers hounding him after he got out of jail. Really good song!

I swore to God that I'm never coming back.
Kept my faith when I was clacked.
Staring at the wall through a crack in the floor.
And these metal doors, they've got me trapped.
I gotta remind myself that my mind is strong so I won't lose my head.
I've got my demons that I fight with, every little thought in every breath.

I wear my heart up on my sleeve so my soul's exposed.
And I carry this disease, the weight of the holy ghost.
God, can you hear me? God is missing.

Take it back, take it back, my friend,
All the things that you said about the end.
This is it, this is me telling you it ain't over til it's over.
Give it up, give it up, my friend.
The score is settled even if you won't admit.
Set it down, final hour without a doubt, it's over when it's over.

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/3Wn52FjoUJClQOXwKePPp3" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

Last song for today, is the first Falling in Reverse song that I've ever heard, "Bad Girls Club." This one is not as deep as the previous two tracks I've shared. It is a funny song, with a catchy melody that sounds more like the playful side of punk rock.

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/5NSdMmd2LnvgDcpLiKeKeD" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

Tags: #MusicLog #Music #FallingInReverse #RockMusic #PunkRock

!--emailsub--

div id="post-signature"
div class="alert-info"
ba href="https://remark.as/p/journal.dinobansigan.com/music-log-014"Discuss.../a/b or leave me a comment below.
/div
/div]]>

Let's start with one of their more recent songs, “Losing My Life.” One of the best combination of rap and rock that I've ever heard in a song. I love how it transitions from rap to rock just before the chorus. It also has this sci-fi movie vibe to it.

Next up is the song “It's Over When It's Over.” This is probably my favorite Falling In Reverse song.

Last song for today, is the first Falling in Reverse song that I've ever heard, “Bad Girls Club.” This one is not as deep as the previous two tracks I've shared. It is a funny song, with a catchy melody that sounds more like the playful side of punk rock.

Music Log - 013

<![CDATA[It's Friday and also the first day of November, wow how time flies! Let's do another music log. This one's going to be a punk rock covers edition.

Let's start off with a cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall" by Cartel. This is a really good clean cover. They didn't try to do anything too fancy. They just touched up an older song and gave it the Cartel sound. I find that I actually like this cover more than the original, and I used to be a pretty big Oasis fan back then.

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/3SN6V2ZELXrTjna8TRXJ1l" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

!--more--
Next up is a cover of The Beatles' "Let It Be" by Too Close To Touch. I don't know what it is about this cover, but as soon as the vocalist starts singing, I get a dose of frisson every single time I listen to this song. I don't even think that this is a very good cover of the original (the instrumental part was kinda meh), which is ironic, because I also can't stop listening to this cover.

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/21u6zgstEm23O0P6NvVoIg" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

Last song for today is a cover of Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn" by Neck Deep. Love this cover! It adds just the right amount of punk rock to the original. This song just takes me back to my high school days. I remember jamming on the guitar with my friends singing this song. Those were good times. I miss my friends. I wished they didn't live in another continent.

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/1NqH3H7CX9ffRcCc7bnKvS" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

#MusicLog #Music #PunkRock #Cartel #TooCloseToTouch #NeckDeep

div id="post-signature"
div class="alert-info"
ba href="https://remark.as/p/journal.dinobansigan.com/music-log-013"Discuss.../a/b or leave me a comment below.
/div
/div]]>

Music Log - 010

<![CDATA[Highlight of the week is the clutch slipping on my Speed3. Bummer because I just got it back last week after having the front and rear brakes serviced. If it ends up needing a new clutch, well that will be expensive. Alas that is a fact of life when owning a car with 100,000 miles on it. As a precaution, I've switched to a Stage1 tune to lower max boost on the turbo and have taken to driving like a grandma; never going over 3000 RPM. Unfortunate, because boost season is upon us too. Anyway it's Friday, so time for another music log.

First song for today is "Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?" by The Offspring. As soon as you hear it, you'll know it's a song from The Offspring. Must be the singer's voice or the way they do vocal harmonies. They just have this unique sound on their tracks that is reminiscent of other bands from the 90s or early 2000s. Just like how you know a song is from Red Hot Chili Peppers or from Incubus. The Offspring almost sounds like they've grown up in this song though.

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/616cVydBdvTudiKpoWs0WY" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

!--more--
Second song is "Fall Apart" from Every Avenue. Every Avenue is probably best known for their song "Tell Me I'm A Wreck", which is a hilarious and awesome song at the same time. This song though I only heard this year and it's a good one too. We need more bitter songs like this hah!

I want you to fall apart like I did
You to hurt for all of this
All the pain you put me through
I wanna hear you say
I don't deserve you
Fall apart like I did
You to hurt for all of this
All the pain you put me through
I wanna hear you say
I don't deserve you
Fall apart

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/1pK8itCVhSeIR6cjYrnAZ1" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

Last song for today is from a relatively unknown band. The song is "This One's For You" by Thousand Thoughts. I found the song through the Discover Today playlist on Spotify. This is a powerful song, made so by the way their vocalist sings. He has this deep voice that I normally wouldn't expect to come from a band's front-man, but he puts it to good use in this song. The way the song almost stops in the bridge and then the vocalist almost wills the song back to life, that is pretty awesome. That part of the song always gives me frisson. Depending on what you're going through in your life, this can be a love song or even a spiritual song. This is just a great song and I love the lyrics too!

So put your trust in my arms
And send your fears to my heart
Lay to rest the pain
With my hand
Looking into your eyes
I see past where you hide
No matter how hard you
Try to deny

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/2CtobklU9mZe2x90j34r2X" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

Tags: #MusicLog #Music #PunkRock #RockMusic #TheOffspring #EveryAvenue #ThousandThoughts

div id="post-signature"
div class="alert-info"
ba href="https://remark.as/p/journal.dinobansigan.com/music-log-010"Discuss.../a/b or leave me a comment below.
/div
/div]]>
