The first track today is perhaps my best discovery last year. It is the song “Shine” by Mondo Cozmo. I do not remember where I heard it from. It was probably from the Top 50 Rock Songs of 2019 countdown. Honestly, not the song I expected to hear from an artist who does folk rock/indie rock music. But either way, this is a great song. It is about trusting in Jesus and living life the best you can, without telling others how to live their lives. It reminds me of something I read in the Word on Fire Bible — that each one of us is responsible for our own salvation. Stop looking at what other people are doing and focus instead on what you should be doing.

This song has some really good lyrics too. It starts out with this:

Stick with me Jesus through the comin' storm I've come to you in search of something I have lost Shine down a light on me and show a path I promise you I will return if you take me back

Then on the bridge there's the lyrics below. It nearly brought tears to my eyes when I first heard them. This is such a good song.

The second song for today is my favorite Tenth Avenue North song, “By Your Side.” This song is great because it sounds like God is talking to me the whole time the song is playing. I mean just look at the lyrics below and you'll understand what I mean. I get that not everyone will feel the same way, but this song has such a powerful effect on me. It is a beautiful, beautiful song.

Last song for today is another beautiful Tenth Avenue North song, “Control (Somehow You Want Me).” This is a more recent one. I love the music video and its focus on family and God. I love the lyrics. I love the song.

Anyway the two songs I have lined up today are inspirational and uplifting songs. How much of a coincidence is it, that these are the songs that are next in my list to share in a music log entry, all while the world is going through a global pandemic?

First up is the song “Brave” by Skillet. I love, love, love the lyrics on this song. This song goes out to everyone on the front lines fighting to keep this virus from overwhelming the world.

Second song for today is “Not Alone” by Red. Another song with beautiful, beautiful lyrics. This song is set up in such a way that it feels like God is talking to me when I listen to it. I mean, just look at the lyrics below. It sounds like He's talking to the listener in this song.

I love the lyrics in the chorus when He says, “I am with you, I will carry you through it all.” There's also the two striking lines at the end of the bridge, where it goes “And when you're finally in my arms, look up and see love has a face.” I don't know why, but those lines hit me hard. What a comfort it is to know a God that loves me that much.

The first song for today is “What Would Love Do?” by Scott Stapp. If you don't know who Scott Stapp is, he was the vocalist for the rock band Creed, which was one of my favorite bands back in high school. I don't remember why they've disbanded, but the rest of the band members are still making music in another rock band, Alter Bridge.

Anyway back to the song, this is a beautiful song about the power of love. Not the cheesy corny kind, but the kind of love that stops you from giving in to your rage. I really love the lyrics on this song.

Next song for today is "Let It Burn" by the band Red. This song is a cry for help, to a God who doesn't seem to be present, who doesn't seem to be doing anything to stop a city from burning. Some years ago, my hometown, the city where I was born, was under siege. Throughout the whole ordeal, this song kept playing at the back of my head. When will He finally show up and put an end to it? I imagine this song will resonate with a lot of people going through a similar thing.

Last song for today is “There's No Going Back” by Sick Puppies. This is a great song that talks about learning from past mistakes and moving on, hopefully making better decisions this time.

Let's start off with “All the Same” by Sick Puppies. This is a pretty old song that for some reason eluded me during my college years. Or at least I don't remember hearing this song back then. I only heard it this year and I like it a lot. I love how it starts slow and builds up to a point when the vocals and instruments come to life.

Next up is “Breathe You In” by Thousand Foot Krutch. I would classify Thousand Foot Krutch as a Christian rock band, but they make music that fits a bunch of different genres. This is one of their slow rock songs that I really like. I especially like to listen to this song when I feel down and I feel like I need help.

Last song for today is “Lions” by Skillet. Another slow rock song from another Christian rock band. I love this song because it sounds uplifting and inspirational.
