Music Log – 030 | Songs from Mondo Cozmo and Tenth Avenue North

<![CDATA[It has been a stressful week for reasons I don't want to elaborate on. But there was good news yesterday and that's all that matters right now. What a coincidence it is, that yet again, these are the kind of songs I have lined up for today. Anyway, it's time for another music log Friday.

The first track today is perhaps my best discovery last year. It is the song "Shine" by Mondo Cozmo. I do not remember where I heard it from. It was probably from the Top 50 Rock Songs of 2019 countdown. Honestly, not the song I expected to hear from an artist who does folk rock/indie rock music. But either way, this is a great song. It is about trusting in Jesus and living life the best you can, without telling others how to live their lives. It reminds me of something I read in the Word on Fire Bible -- that each one of us is responsible for our own salvation. Stop looking at what other people are doing and focus instead on what you should be doing.

This song has some really good lyrics too. It starts out with this:

Stick with me Jesus through the comin' storm
I've come to you in search of something I have lost
Shine down a light on me and show a path
I promise you I will return if you take me back

Then on the bridge there's the lyrics below. It nearly brought tears to my eyes when I first heard them. This is such a good song.

Come with me Mary through these modern lines
Stick with me Jesus til' the end of time
Shine down a light on me and let me know
And take me in your arms and never let me go

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/1pOUbcbTvOU" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

!--more--
hr class="sb"/
The second song for today is my favorite Tenth Avenue North song, "By Your Side." This song is great because it sounds like God is talking to me the whole time the song is playing. I mean just look at the lyrics below and you'll understand what I mean. I get that not everyone will feel the same way, but this song has such a powerful effect on me. It is a beautiful, beautiful song.

Why are you striving these days
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don't turn away

Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching
As if I'm not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run

Cause I'll be by your side wherever you fall
In the dead of night whenever you call
And please don't fight these hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/9tYmdSrJKF8" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

hr class="sb"/
Last song for today is another beautiful Tenth Avenue North song, "Control (Somehow You Want Me)." This is a more recent one.

Come with me Mary through these modern lines

The second song for today is my favorite Tenth Avenue North song, “By Your Side.” This song is great because it sounds like God is talking to me the whole time the song is playing. I mean just look at the lyrics below and you'll understand what I mean. I get that not everyone will feel the same way, but this song has such a powerful effect on me. It is a beautiful, beautiful song.

Why are you striving these days
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don't turn away

Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching
As if I'm not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run

Cause I'll be by your side wherever you fall
In the dead of night whenever you call
And please don't fight these hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you

Last song for today is another beautiful Tenth Avenue North song, “Control (Somehow You Want Me).” This is a more recent one. I love the music video and its focus on family and God. I love the lyrics. I love the song.

Here I am
All my intentions
All my obsessions
I want to lay them all down
In Your hands
Only Your love is vital
Though I'm not entitled
Still You call me Your child

God You don't need me
But somehow You want me
Oh how You love me
Somehow that frees me
To take my hands off of my life
And the way it should go
God You don't need me
But somehow You want me
Oh how You love me
Somehow that frees me
To open my hands up
And give You control
I give You control

Music Log - 021 | Songs from Skillet and Red

<![CDATA[It's been almost a month since my last music log. Some significant things have happened that prevented me from having enough free time to write down music logs on Fridays. Anyway, it is Friday, I have a bit of time after an exhausting session of running into one bug after another, none of which are caused by the code changes I'm trying to test.

Anyway the two songs I have lined up today are inspirational and uplifting songs. How much of a coincidence is it, that these are the songs that are next in my list to share in a music log entry, all while the world is going through a global pandemic?

First up is the song "Brave" by Skillet. I love, love, love the lyrics on this song. This song goes out to everyone on the front lines fighting to keep this virus from overwhelming the world.

 Wherever I will go
Wherever you will lead
I'll never walk alone
Your spirit is with me
oh oh oh oh oh
You're with me as I go
So I will not be afraid

You call me to be brave
In you, in you
Brave
In you, you call me to be brave

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/4A3NqfV994k" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

!--more--
hr /

Second song for today is "Not Alone" by Red. Another song with beautiful, beautiful lyrics. This song is set up in such a way that it feels like God is talking to me when I listen to it. I mean, just look at the lyrics below. It sounds like He's talking to the listener in this song.

I love the lyrics in the chorus when He says, "I am with you, I will carry you through it all." There's also the two striking lines at the end of the bridge, where it goes "And when you're finally in my arms, look up and see love has a face." I don't know why, but those lines hit me hard. What a comfort it is to know a God that loves me that much.

 Slowly fading away
You're lost and so afraid
Where is the hope in a world so cold
Looking for a distant light
Someone who could save a life
You're living in fear that no one will hear your cries
Can you save me now

 I am with you
I will carry you through it all
I won't leave you I will catch you
When you feel like letting go
Cause your not, your not alone

And I'll be your hope when you feel like its over
And I will pick you up when your whole world shatters
And when you're finally in my arms
Look up and see love has a face

div class="video-container"iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/yZB-9Z_FAfs" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen/iframe/div

Tags: #MusicLog #ChristianRock #Skillet #Red

!--emailsub--

div id="post-signature"
div class="alert-info"
ba href="https://remark.as/p/journal.dinobansigan.com/music-log-021"Discuss.../a/b or leave me a comment below.
/div
/div]]>

I mean, just look at the lyrics below. It sounds like He's talking to the listener in this song.

What a comfort it is to know a God that loves me that much.

Slowly fading away
You're lost and so afraid
Where is the hope in a world so cold
Looking for a distant light
Someone who could save a life
You're living in fear that no one will hear your cries
Can you save me now

I am with you
I will carry you through it all
I won't leave you I will catch you
When you feel like letting go
Cause your not, your not alone

And I'll be your hope when you feel like its over
And I will pick you up when your whole world shatters
And when you're finally in my arms
Look up and see love has a face

Music Log - 016

<![CDATA[It is a rainy Friday in Texas, time for another music log.

The first song for today is "What Would Love Do?" by Scott Stapp. If you don't know who Scott Stapp is, he was the vocalist for the rock band Creed, which was one of my favorite bands back in high school. I don't remember why they've disbanded, but the rest of the band members are still making music in another rock band, Alter Bridge.

Anyway back to the song, this is a beautiful song about the power of love. Not the cheesy corny kind, but the kind of love that stops you from giving in to your rage. I really love the lyrics on this song.

Go ahead and throw it in my face
Remind me of each of my mistakes
Turn on me tell me I'm wrong that it's all my fault
I feel I'm losing control
Putting my fists through the wall
This is the place that I break I can't take anymore
I see the fear in your eyes
I'm frozen standing still in time

 What would love do?
If it were here in this room, standing between me and you.
What would love do?
It would look in my face and stop me from hurting you.
That's what love would do

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/7jnEehUJyxaYekPzpeYffA" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

!--more--
hr /

p id="LetItBurn"Next song for today is em"Let It Burn"/em by the band Red. This song is a cry for help, to a God who doesn't seem to be present, who doesn't seem to be doing anything to stop a city from burning. Some years ago, my hometown, the city where I was born, was under siege. Throughout the whole ordeal, this song kept playing at the back of my head. When will He finally show up and put an end to it? I imagine this song will resonate with a lot of people going through a similar thing./p

 I watch the city burn
These dreams like ashes float away
Your voice I never heard
Only silence
Where were you when our hearts were bleeding?
Where were you when it all crashed down?
Never thought that you'd deceive me
Where are you now?

How long can you stand the pain?
How long will you hide your face?
How long will you be afraid?
Are you afraid?
How long will you play this game?
Will you fight or will you walk away?
How long will you let it burn?
Let it burn

iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/6FlCPO7Z0QGgwtIL8ocZzY" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

hr /

Last song for today is "There's No Going Back" by Sick Puppies. Remind me of each of my mistakes
Turn on me tell me I'm wrong that it's all my fault
I feel I'm losing control
Putting my fists through the wall
This is the place that I break I can't take anymore
I see the fear in your eyes
I'm frozen standing still in time

What would love do?
If it were here in this room, standing between me and you.
What would love do?
It would look in my face and stop me from hurting you.
That's what love would do

These dreams like ashes float away
Your voice I never heard
Only silence
Where were you when our hearts were bleeding?
Where were you when it all crashed down?
Never thought that you'd deceive me
Where are you now?

How long can you stand the pain?
How long will you hide your face?
How long will you be afraid?
Are you afraid?
How long will you play this game?
Will you fight or will you walk away?
How long will you let it burn?

Last song for today is “There's No Going Back” by Sick Puppies. This is a great song that talks about learning from past mistakes and moving on, hopefully making better decisions this time.

Music Log - 003

<![CDATA[It's time for another music log. I skipped a week because last week was too busy; think group of software developers locked in a room until a new feature was implemented. Anyway it's good to be back online.

Let's start off with "All the Same" by Sick Puppies. This is a pretty old song that for some reason eluded me during my college years. Or at least I don't remember hearing this song back then. I only heard it this year and I like it a lot. I love how it starts slow and builds up to a point when the vocals and instruments come to life.
iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/3vIw7vxgUTPtppVwMfhcwo" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

!--more--
Next up is "Breathe You In" by Thousand Foot Krutch. I would classify Thousand Foot Krutch as a Christian rock band, but they make music that fits a bunch of different genres. This is one of their slow rock songs that I really like. I especially like to listen to this song when I feel down and I feel like I need help.
iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/3UoruSyFL1uQLbftP88C3i" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

Last song for today is "Lions" by Skillet. Another slow rock song from another Christian rock band. I love this song because it sounds uplifting and inspirational.
iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/1x3WrdMnerhhGiCixoO0z4" width="300" height="380" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"/iframe

#MusicLog #RockMusic #ChristianRock

div id="post-signature"
div class="alert-info"
ba href="https://remark.as/p/journal.dinobansigan.com/music-log-003"Discuss.../a/b or leave me a comment below.
/div
/div]]>
