Luka-less Mavs survive Giannis Antetokounmpo's 48 to halt Bucks' run at 18 | ESPN
After rolling off 18 consecutive victories, the Milwaukee Bucks have tasted defeat for the first time since Nov. 8 following a 120-116 loss to the Luka Doncic-less Dallas Mavericks on Monday night. The Mavericks are the first team in NBA history to snap a single-season win streak of 15-plus games without its leading scorer, according to Elias Sports Bureau data.
The Mavericks have had some impressive wins this season, notably those against the Rockets and the Lakers. However, I think this may be their most impressive win yet; beating the scorching Milwaukee Bucks without their superstar Luka Doncic.
Prior to this win, the Mavericks rallied from 24-point deficit to force the Miami Heat into overtime. That was the game where Luka got injured just 1 minute and 40 seconds into the 1st quarter. They also nearly won that game, if not for some late game heroics by Jimmy Butler. That game was an indication that this Mavericks team is not so helpless without Luka Doncic on the floor. They have depth and they will need to rely on that if they aim to make a playoff run this season. It's going to be an exciting NBA season for Mavs fans.
