Journal Entry – 060

Could not use the Xbox because Davin was watching Cars yet again. So, I decided to watch the PBS Documentary The Facebook Dilemma instead. What a very interesting one. I'll talk about it in a separate post.

Eat until you are 80% full. A good tip I read from the Japanese Contentments book. I also need to start implementing it.

Decided not to exercise and instead went to work assembling the glider for Coney. This was going to be my exercise. Unfortunately, the hardware needed to assemble the glider was missing. Not to mention, the Ottoman that came with it was damaged. Last time, we returned the glider because the base on the glider was damaged. This time, since only the Ottoman is damaged, we've decided not to return the glider. We instead called customer service to ask them to send us the missing hardware and a replacement for the damaged Ottoman.

Built and tested Baby Caleb's swing. At least that one went well.

Listening to Breaking Benjamin's Aurora album. It is shaping up to be a really good one! This is like a “greatest hits” album, except they rearranged the tracks and added more orchestra sounds to it. I'm sorry, I'm not really sure how to describe it. It almost sounds like an acoustic album, but there's more to it. I guess you'll just have to listen to it.

Got taxes done and got a refund. It was the child credit for Davin that helped us get a refund.

So, next year, with two kids, we should get even more. Which means, we probably should increase our withholding amount so as not to get too much of a refund.

I used to think getting a refund was a good thing. But I have since learned that ideally, you want to break even. Getting too much of a refund means you just gave the government an interest free loan with your tax money.

After getting our taxes done, we went to Barnes and Noble to buy me a new bullet journal. As of this writing (which was months ago), I have six pages left before I reach the end of my bullet journal.

Attended Davin's soccer class. That was a fun class, for the kids I mean. It was the first class I've been to, where the kids were taught to steal the ball from someone else. In other words, play defense.

Towards the end of the class, there was a collision between two of the older kids. Davin was not involved because he was running behind the group. But I suppose that's a preview of what's to come.

A preview of what's to come... yeah right. We don't even know if soccer classes will resume again this year. Most likely not until we get a vaccine.

Davin showed some improvement as far as “falling down and picking himself back up” goes. In the past, whenever he falls down and his palms get dirty, he would stop what he was doing and run back to us. Today, Coney told him to just pat his palms clean on the side of his jersey. At first, he did it but still wanted to run toward us. After a few more falls, he realized he could do that and go back to playing. Good job Davin!

We went to Raising Cane's after soccer class. It is now becoming a tradition for us to go to Cane's after soccer class. Today was the first day we ordered Davin a kids meal at Cane's. He's started to eat more of the chicken, whereas before, he would only eat the fries.

I got to carry Davin today. I'm going to start tracking these events so I can look back and figure out the last day that I got to carry him.

We went back to Buy Buy Baby to return the Britax infant car seat and got a travel system instead.
