Journal Entry – XV
Davin was supposed to get a haircut today, but due to a navigation mistake by Apple Maps, we ended up on the other side of the fence for his appointment. That was unfortunate because Apple Maps was doing so well as my replacement for Waze.
We were also supposed to go to the zoo, but Davin took an afternoon nap, which is a rare event on weekends, so we just let him nap as much as he wanted.
We ended up taking him to the mall to ride the carousel and have him play at the indoor playground. First mistake was not planning for heavy rain throughout the night. Second mistake was parking close to the entrance by the carousel.
The rain was still pouring as we were about to leave, so we had to stop at the exit, by the carousel, to plan how we were going to get out. Davin used it as an excuse to get on the carousel again. That was fine, he had an all day pass. The problem was that the mall was closing and we really needed to go home.
So after one last ride we finally got him off the horse and as expected, he didn’t want to go home. He didn’t want me carrying him, so my wife had to carry him through the rain. Didn’t help that he was furious about having to go home so he kept fighting the whole way. Not a fun trek to the parking lot.
So lesson learned for the wife and me. Next time, we are not parking anywhere near the carousel.
Drove the wife’s Mazda in manual mode the whole day. Helps to make the drive a little more engaging. Actually it was quite fun to drive it in manual mode. I still wish it had a stronger engine, but that option was not available when we purchased her car a few years ago. The one thing I can say about her car is that I can push it and use its full potential in everyday driving. I can’t say the same thing about my Speed3.
I am once again debating with myself as to whether or not I should use my domain name with this journal. My concern now is being able to “own my own words”. It doesn’t seem likely that write.as will go away anytime soon, but if it does, I want to be able to just switch to a different platform and keep the URLs intact.
What’s holding me back is that I don’t know if it’s okay to associate this personal journal to my main website. Decisions, decisions.
